SeaLife is introducing a Lens Adapter for their SportDiver underwater Smartphone housing.

67mm and 52mm threaded lenses may be mounted to the SportDiver smartphone housing allowing the underwater photographer to expand their macro and wide-angle creativity.   The precision lens adapter, constructed with hard anodized machined aluminum and stainless-steel hardware, mounts directly to the SportDiver’s lens port for a secure, solid fit.   The adapter allows for easy horizontal and vertical lens movement adjustments to center the lens over the phone’s intended shooting lens.

Sealife SportDiver Lens Adapter

The adapter comes threaded with a 67mm opening, for larger diameter lenses. A 52mm threaded ring is included for attaching smaller 52 mm lenses.   For other lenses, a step-down ring may be obtained through dive photo or photography shops.

SeaLife is also introducing a 52mm 4-element 0.7x wide angle lens that fits onto the Lens Adapter; the new SeaLife 52mm Wide-Angle Dome lens (Item SL054) increases the phone lens shooting angle by 43%, allowing for a closer shooting distance and improved edge sharpness.

Sealife SportDiver Lens Adapter

With the multitude of underwater lenses and a wide variety of smartphone lenses available, underwater photographers now have virtually unlimited choices available to them. SeaLife recommends using wide-angle lenses with optical magnification between 0.5x and 0.75x magnification, which allows closer shooting distances while fitting the subject into the image frame.  SeaLife also recommends using macro lenses with diopter correct between 3x and 10x.  Macro lenses will allow you to get closer to the subject while maintaining image sharpness.  Due to the wide variety of smartphone phone lenses in the market, some lens settings may not be compatible.

The lens adapter will be available at Sealife’s USA network of dealers by January 2024.

In a plea for public assistance, local authorities are seeking witnesses to come forward in the wake of a tragic incident on the Central Coast that claimed the life of a 51-year-old man. The victim passed away in hospital after being rescued from the water at Terrigal Haven last month.

On the evening of Friday, October 20, 2023, emergency services responded to distress calls reporting an unconscious man in the water at approximately 5:45 pm. According to police reports, the man had been engaged in scuba diving with a friend when adverse weather conditions prompted their return to shore. During an attempt to ascend the rocks, the 51-year-old was struck by a powerful wave, causing him to slip, hit his head, and fall back into the water.

A Good Samaritan, identified as an unidentified surfer, courageously entered the water on his surfboard, successfully retrieving the injured man. Once ashore, CPR was administered until the arrival of paramedics from NSW Ambulance. Despite immediate efforts to stabilize him, the victim was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital in critical condition. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries a few days later, as confirmed by hospital authorities who subsequently notified the police.

Brisbane Water Police District detectives have taken charge of the investigation on behalf of the Coroner. They are now seeking the public’s help in identifying the heroic surfer who played a pivotal role in rescuing the victim. Detectives believe that this individual may possess crucial information to aid their ongoing inquiries.

As the investigation progresses, anyone with pertinent information is strongly encouraged to reach out to Gosford Police Station or provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.

In the interest of maintaining confidentiality, individuals can also submit information through the Crime Stoppers website: https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. The public is reminded to refrain from reporting information via NSW Police social media pages. The authorities assure that all provided information will be treated with the utmost discretion.

SeaLife, the leading maker of underwater imaging gear, has introduced a new Wide Angle Dome Lens for their popular SportDiver underwater smartphone housing that increases the phone’s camera lens field-of view by 43% and allows photographers to get closer to the subject while fitting everything into the image frame.

The new dome lens mounts directly to the SportDiver housing’s lens port without any lens adapter.  The 0.65x dome lens requires no skill, training, or adjustment; simply mount it and shoot. Split shots that split the topside view with the undersea view are especially easy. There’s a safety lanyard included to keep the lens with the housing should it get bumped off.

SportDiver 6" Wide Angle Lens

The 6” Wide Angle Dome Lens design uses high-grade acrylic optics arranged in a 2-element/2- group array that delivers crisp edge-to-edge sharpness.   “This is a very versatile lens that significantly improves the phone lens’ performance and allows for some creative underwater images and video” says Bjorn Harms, SeaLife’s Vice President of Product Development.

The lens has a 15.6mm film-equivalent effective focal length when used, for example, with the SeaLife SportDiver and the iPhone 15 Pro’s 24mm “Ultrawide” camera lens. The lens is waterproof to 130ft/40m and is positively buoyant.   The new 6”/15cm Dome Lens fits all SeaLife SportDiver housings.

SportDiver 6" Wide Angle Lens

The lens includes a rotatable sunshade built around the optics to help control stray sunlight. The new lens is a “wet lens” and easily attaches and removes underwater, the inner lens chambers are air-filled, and the lens is therefore buoyant. A lanyard is included and prevents the lens from accidentally detaching when bumped or in rougher water conditions. The 6”/15cm Dome Lens weighs 17.4 ounces (493 grams).

The 6”/15cm Dome Lens will be available in January 2024.

A scuba diver reportedly found himself in a challenging situation off the coast of Miami, left treading water for approximately half an hour after the dive boat he was on started taking on water. The incident occurred near Sunny Isles Beach on a Wednesday morning, according to the Coast Guard.

The unnamed diver was left stranded when the vessel began experiencing difficulties and had to return to shore without him, as reported by the Miami Herald. Following a call received by the Miami-Dade County Fire Rescue around 9:30 a.m., a fire rescue boat promptly picked up the diver at 10 a.m. Fortunately, the diver was safely returned to the Haulover Marina Center and did not require any medical attention.

A video captured by WSVN showcased the diver swimming towards the rescue boat, located approximately 600 yards offshore

In 2023, China, Japan and Korea recorded the highest number of new PADI certified divers in Asia. In 2024,  the Asia Pacific diving tourism industry is set to not only fully recover but exceed the market size in 2019, and as demand continues to grow, the region’s revenue is expected to grow at a CAGR of 12.2% from 2022 – 2030.

The Maritime Museum of British Columbia’s Remembrance Day Human Library program will run on the afternoon of November 11th, 2023, from 1:30 – 3:30 PM, with admission by donation. The Museum will otherwise be closed to admissions that day for the statutory holiday.

About the program

This Human Library program is an opportunity to talk to two service members with unique service histories and trades. In group conversations, explore memories, stories, and technical expertise.

“The idea of a Human Library is that instead of books, visitors in groups get to talk to multiple people with specific lived experiences, each for a set amount of time before beginning a new conversation,” said Events and Development Manager Anya Zanko.

Two service members, CPO1 Jonathon Sorensen and Lt(N) Michelle Scott, will join participants for this program, and run 2 parallel sessions of 30-minute conversations; there will be a break in between each session.

Admission to this program is by donation. We will have hot chocolate and a break between conversations.

NOAA and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) are guiding Mission: Iconic Reefs (M:IR) restoration partners with coral return protocols to help ensure the safe and efficient return of thousands of corals evacuated from their shallow in-water nurseries to land-based facilities this July. This summer’s historic marine heatwave prompted the emergency removal and massive collaboration between M:IR partners and multiple additional practitioners in order to safeguard the genetic diversity of Florida’s coral reef-building species.

The new protocols outline temperature markers, coral health check procedures, transportation methods, and monitoring requirements. Ocean temperatures at in-water nursery locations must be below 87˚F for at least seven days and must be cleared of all diseased or dead corals before evacuated corals can be returned. An official Coral Health Veterinarian will conduct on-site health checks and provide a 30-day reintroduction certification. Transport protocols ensure that holding containers do not exceed 87˚F, are shaded, offer appropriate space, and are inspected at the end of transport. Corals that show signs of distress, such as tissue loss or excessive mucus, will be quarantined on land.

Restoration partners Coral Restoration Foundation, Mote Marine Laboratory, and Reef Renewal began the return efforts in late-October, using the protocols to transport corals from temporary safekeeping at land-based facilities at Mote in Sarasota, Summerland, Islamorada, and Key Largo; Keys Marine Laboratory; FL SeaBase; The Reef Institute; Aquarium Encounters; and Plant a Million Corals. The corals will be closely monitored for disease, predation, and mortality for a 30-day minimum in order to reduce stressors they may encounter when they are later outplanted on the reef, help stave off disease outbreaks, and help prevent introduction of pathogens into the wild.

Assessment of coral health ongoing

In mid-August, NOAA’s M:IR Monitoring and Assessments Team conducted a 10-day assessment at segments of all seven iconic reef sites in Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary (FKNMS) to document the condition of the outplanted corals. At every location, the team observed fully bleached and recently dead corals. Most sites had pockets of corals that were only partially bleached, and in some cases, completely unbleached corals were observed. Boulder corals showed much less bleaching and minimal mortality, as compared to the branching elkhorn and staghorn corals. Approximately 30% of outplanted staghorn and 45% elkhorn coral surveyed died, most likely due to heat stress. Approximately 90% of elkhorn and staghorn corals surveyed exhibited signs of heat stress with bleaching, partial bleaching, or paling of the tissue.

The assessment results are preliminary due to eight additional weeks of high temperature stress that occurred after the survey was conducted, which may have further impacted coral bleaching and mortality. A follow-up cruise is planned for February 2024, and  data from both cruises will help NOAA biologists understand the full extent of the marine heatwave impacts and inform future Mission: Iconic Reefs restoration strategy. Outplant method, temperature trends, bleaching thresholds, site comparisons, and survival and mortality rates by age and outplant dates are variables that will be considered.

Corals that remained in the in-water nurseries and survived the heatwave will be considered for outplanting on a case-by-case basis under approval by FKNMS. Those corals will be outplanted to portions of M:IR sites where restoration efforts have not taken place;  their health and success will be tracked separately from pre-heatwave restoration areas.

Additional guidance will be provided for future outplanting and monitoring by NOAA/FWC officials, who continue to assess conditions of Florida’s Coral Reef after the unprecedented heat wave.

Ilha do Fogo, a 42-hectare island off the coast of Mozambique, has fully transitioned to 100% renewable energy.

The island is a safe haven for one of the world’s most vulnerable marine species… sea turtles. In order to protect Ilha do Fogo’s habitat, for all wildlife, the island’s directors vowed to keep the island as low-impact on the environment as possible.

Ilha do Fogo

Many islands are powered almost entirely by fossil fuels, however, the environmental impact of producing this type of energy went against everything the Fire Island Conservation team is working towards.

The NPO’s chief of operations, Jan van Deventer, states “Running Ilha do Fogo purely on solar energy just makes sense. We had already developed a number of solar stills to harvest fresh water on the island, so the transition to run all our energy needs on solar power was the logical next step.”

Ilha do Fogo

The 120KW solar plant was installed on Ilha do Fogo in November 2022. Although the island has accommodation for guests in the manner of ‘floating’ ensuite tents, it has only recently opened up to eco-tourism. With the solar system currently operating at a fairly low usage level, it is generating an average of 6000 kWh per month. This translates to a reduction of around 70,000 kg of CO2 annually. However, it can easily generate 13,000 kWh per month to accommodate our guests on the island, which equates to an annual reduction of 156,000 kg of CO2.

The project’s conservation manager, Esther Jacobs, states “The island is truly a biodiversity hotspot and we aim to do everything in our power to protect its marine and terrestrial populations. Running on diesel-power energy goes against our ethics. Not only would this type of energy create a huge carbon footprint just in transporting fuel to the island, but would also emit pollutants, including nitrogen oxides, sulphur dioxide, and particulate matter, which can be harmful to the wildlife.”

Ilha do Fogo

Even the accommodation was carefully considered to minimise any environmental impact.  “There are 10 tented suites sitting atop platforms that were built to ensure the existing ecosystems and vegetation stayed intact,” says Jan. “With each tent sleeping two people, we could feasibly have 20 guests staying at any given time. However, we want to keep guest capacity to a maximum of 12, ensuring our impact remains at a minimum.”

Ilha do Fogo

Ilha do Fogo accommodation is part of Unfound Africa’s portfolio of unparalleled destinations and undiscovered locations. Each offering in the collection has been selected for uniqueness, inspiring guests to protect their biodiversity and culture. PADI Pros train with OceanShot partners for underwater coral reef panel at the Global Citizen Forum at COP28

PADI®. is joining OceanShot co-founders for the historic underwater panel on positive ocean change at the Global Citizen Forum, which is taking place alongside COP28 in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE December 6-7 2023. The first-of-its-kind underwater panel will dive deep on the importance for coral reef protection to elevate the urgent need for ocean action.

PADI’s CEO and President Drew Richardson will join Dr. Brosnan and Mr. DeJoria at the Global Citizen Forum’s first-ever underwater panel to purposefully descend beneath the surface in the hopes of calling people around the globe to positive ocean action and inspiring them to both explore and save the ocean.

OceanShot is a coral reef ecosystem restoration project co-founded by globally-recognized marine scientist and climate risk expert Dr. Deborah Brosnan, and global philanthropist, environmentalist and entrepreneur John Paul DeJoria, launched in partnership with the Government of Antigua and Barbuda. The initiative uses technology that mimics the design and shape of natural reefs to restore coral and invite back marine life, as well as protect nearby coastal communities from storm surge and sea level rise.

Dr. Richardson is one of the most influential people in scuba diving and has transformed PADI’s mission to create a billion ocean TorchbearersTM.  who are taking local action for global impact and united by a shared vision to achieve balance between humanity and the ocean.

OceanShot’s first living-lab hub, designed to be a place where innovators can test their technologies aimed at environmental protection, was deployed in Antigua and Barbuda. In June 2021, the Global Citizen Forum adopted OceanShot as one of its supported flagship initiatives. This year, OceanShot’s co-founders invited PADI as a partner in its world-class restoration model.

“Coral reefs are among the most ecologically and economically valuable ecosystems that drive our blue economy,” says Dr. Richardson. “Scuba divers can not only explore beneath the surface and fuel ocean change as Torchbearers, taking part in a range of meaningful diver citizen-science actions driving real results. As global citizens, we have the opportunity to be  changemakers that inspire more innovative and positive solutions for the health of coral reefs, the ocean and our shared blue planet.”

“We’re doing this work because our oceans need us and we need them,” says Dr. Brosnan. “Humans have mapped the human genome, landed astronauts on the moon, and in less than twelve months developed a viable vaccine to combat a global pandemic. It is time to focus the same attention on our oceans with bold, ambitious, and achievable initiatives.”

PADI recently conducted a special underwater training session with Dr. Richardson, Dr. Brosnan and Mr. DeJoria in preparation for the upcoming underwater panel in December where they will share their knowledge and passion for ocean conservation with the world.

A swimming area in Florida has been temporarily closed following two incidents where individuals were bitten on the head by an alligator, as reported by a local news outlet.

A professional trapper, who spoke to WCJB, successfully captured a nine-foot alligator from the waters of the Alexander Springs Recreation Area located within the Ocala National Forest this past Sunday.

Both of the bite victims were scuba divers, with one being attacked on Wednesday and the other on Sunday. The area had previously experienced a temporary closure on Wednesday but was subsequently reopened. However, in response to the recent alligator-related incidents, it has now been closed again “until further notice,” according to WCJB.

The U.S. Forest Service announced the necessity for this temporary closure on Wednesday, emphasizing that it was a measure taken for public safety. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission promptly conducted an investigation and responded to the situation.

A scuba dive boat captain has been found guilty of criminal negligence in the deaths of 34 people who lost their lives in a tragic fire aboard the vessel in 2019, marking the deadliest maritime disaster in recent U.S. history. Jerry Boylan, the captain of the Conception, was charged with one count of misconduct or neglect of a ship officer, a statute intended to hold those responsible for maritime disasters, and he now faces the possibility of spending up to 10 years in prison.

The verdict, delivered by a federal jury, brings some closure to the grieving families who have eagerly awaited accountability for their loved ones’ deaths. Outside the courtroom, tears and embraces from relatives of the victims expressed their relief that justice had been served. This guilty verdict comes more than four years after the tragedy.

The Conception was anchored near Santa Cruz Island when the fire broke out. Thirty-three passengers and one crew member were trapped in a bunkroom below deck and did not survive. Boylan, along with four crew members, managed to escape by jumping overboard. The cause of the blaze still remains unknown, but the trial saw both the prosecution and defense exchange blame for the tragedy.

Prosecutors argued that Boylan failed to fulfill his responsibilities as captain and neglected crucial safety measures, such as not posting a roving night watch or adequately training his crew in firefighting. Boylan’s defense focused on placing blame on boat owner Glen Fritzler, accusing him of fostering a lax safety culture and failing to provide proper training.

While the exact cause of the fire may never be determined, the guilty verdict serves as a solemn reminder of the importance of maritime safety protocols and the accountability that accompanies the responsibility of being a ship officer. The legacy of the victims who lost their lives on that fateful day will endure in the reforms and changes brought forth by their tragic loss.

Boylan’s sentencing is scheduled for February 8, and he could face up to 10 years in prison. He was the only person criminally charged in relation to the fire. Following the tragedy, there have been notable changes to maritime regulations, efforts for congressional reform, and civil lawsuits seeking justice for the victims and their families. This incident will forever be etched in history as the deadliest maritime disaster in recent U.S. history.

The narrative of the ships, which is a crucial aspect of the Halifax Explosion, is largely missing from the many excellent books that have been written about it. That day, there were far more than 150 boats in the harbour. We have very little knowledge of them. The enormous task of identifying and narrating the histories of the ships and the sailors who manned them is taken on by The Dangerous Harbour: Revealing the Unknown Ships and Wrecks of the Halifax Explosion.

Read The Scuba News Canada article on Atlantic’s Last Stop Courage, Folly, and Lies in the White Star Line’s Worst Disaster Before Titanic

This is Bob Chaulk’s sixth book about the seas and sailors of Eastern Canada, drawing from more than 1,200 dives in Halifax Harbour. The author of Atlantic’s Last Stop: Courage, Folly, and Lies in the White Star Line’s Worst Disaster Before the Titanic, Bob is a well-known writer and speaker on nautical history. He recently came back from Liverpool, United Kingdom, where he told the tale of Nova Scotia’s worst shipwreck in the port where the Atlantic sailed.

We have a fantastic week planned for May 13-20, 2024, staying at the 4-Star All Inclusive Bahia Principe Grand Coba Resort and diving in Akumal, Mexico.

Akumal is one of our favourite scuba diving spots. It combines a lovely reef/wall experience with epic cenote diving in a stunning setting. The Akumal reef is incredible, with turtles, coral reefs, and marine life, as well as world-class cenote diving led by our favourite Cave Explorer, Matt Mandziuk, and friends.

The month of May is ideal for diving in this area. Akumal literally translates to “Land of Turtles,” and the turtle breeding season begins in May. Spring and summer are the best times to visit the Cenotes.

A sad day for underwater filming projects as The Underwater Studio in Essex, known for its TV and movie filming stages, has recently closed its doors. Operating under the name SWS Marine Services, the company cited insurmountable challenges as the reason for its closure.

In an official statement replacing its website, the Underwater Studio explained that it struggled to recover from the business loss caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, soaring energy costs, a writers’ and actors’ strike in the United States, and a subsequent decline in bookings contributed to its financial woes. The studio now faces expenses that surpass its income, leading to this unfortunate decision.

The Underwater Studio, founded in Basildon’s Burnt Mills industrial estate in the late 1990s by diver Fred Woodcock and the late Geoff Smith, was a notable institution in the British film and TV industry. Both Woodcock and Smith had extensive experience in the industry, having worked on well-known franchises like James Bond and Jason Bourne. Woodcock remained involved as the diving supervisor, with Glenn Whatley serving as the studio administrator.

A waterspout is a powerful columnar vortex that forms over water and typically resembles a funnel-shaped cloud. Some are associated with cumulus congestus, some with cumulonimbus clouds, and others with cumuliform clouds. A fair-weather waterspout’s life cycle has five stages. A prominent circular, light-colored disc with a larger, darker area around it at first appears on the water’s surface. A pattern of light-and dark-colored spiral bands emerges from the dark spot on the water’s surface after the formation of these coloured discs on the surface. Then, around the dark spot with what seems to be an eye, a dense ring of sea spray known as a “cascade” appears. The waterspout eventually transforms into an apparent funnel that leads from the water’s surface to the cloud above. The spray vortex can reach heights of several hundred feet or more, and as it moves, it frequently leaves a visible wake and a related wave train. The life cycle of the waterspout is finally completed as the funnel and spray vortex start to dissipate as the warm air inflow weakens.

Most waterspouts are weak, small rotating columns of air over water rather than sucking up water. Stronger variants, produced by mesocyclones, do occasionally exist, despite generally being weaker than their land-based counterparts.

Although they have been spotted in the Great Lakes, tropical and subtropical regions are where waterspout formation is most common. But, nine waterspouts were reported on Lake Michigan in the United States at once in 2012. Although they are rare, waterspouts have been observed in conjunction with lake-effect snow precipitation bands.

Tornadoes over water, also known as “tornadoes watersprouts” are formed from mesocyclones in a manner that is essentially the same as how tornadoes on land are formed in connection with severe thunderstorms. Tornadic waterspouts would also include a tornado that crosses from land to water. True tornadic waterspouts are consequently more uncommon than their fair-weather counterparts.

Any object within 90 cm (1 yard) of the water’s surface, including fish of all sizes, frogs, and even turtles, can be lifted into the air, depending on how quickly the winds from a waterspout are whipping. Sometimes, a waterspout can pull small animals like fish out of the water and up into the cloud. Even if the waterspout stops rotating, the fish in the cloud can still be carried over land and tossed around by the wind until the cloud’s currents are no longer able to keep the fish in the air. People up to 160 km (100 miles) inland have reported seeing fish fall from the sky.

In the 18th and 19th centuries, it was a widely held belief among sailors that firing a broadside cannon volley dispersed waterspouts. Captain Vladimir Bronevskiy, among others, asserts that it was a successful tactic because he saw a phenomenon disappear in the Adriatic. The Mary Celeste was abandoned, and a waterspout has been suggested as the cause.

Watersprouts have long recognized as significant marine hazards. Watercraft, aircraft, and people are all in danger from stronger waterspouts. It is advised to stay well away from these phenomena and to always be alert by monitoring weather reports. When waterspouts are expected to move onshore or have already been sighted over coastal waters, the National Weather Services frequently issues special marine warnings or tornado warnings.

The strike by the seaway workers has ended and Great Lake freighter traffic is starting up again on Monday, October 30, 2023 at 7 a.m, according to Canadian news sources. Workers on strike perform maintenance, operational, and supervisory duties at 13 of the 15 locks along the trade route as well as raising and lowering boats between (locks) sections of varying depths along rivers.

The seaway, a major shipping route that connects the Atlantic Ocean and Great Lakes between Lake Erie and Montreal, has been closed since October 22, 2023 due to the walk-out of over 300 striking workers. While they await passage, ships have been left adrift. Due to the inability of businesses to accept goods that were being transported by freighters, the strike had a major effect.

Lana Payne, national president of UNIFOR, told reporters that striking workers wanted fairer compensation and solutions to “a toxic workplace.”

In a recent incident on the night of Saturday, October 28th, Emperor Echo, was moored at Fury Shoals when a sudden and intense lightning storm, accompanied by powerful winds, led to an unfortunate event. The vessel became entangled with its mooring and was subsequently blown onto the reef, resulting in significant, irreparable damage to the ship’s hull.

Emperor Divers would like to express their profound gratitude to their dedicated and highly efficient crew, who, in collaboration with the guests on board, promptly and seamlessly executed evacuation protocols, ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone on board.

We are pleased to report that all passengers and crew members are now safely ashore.

After more than 80 years on the seabed, what is probably the wreckage of the British submarine HMS Thistle has been discovered outside Rogaland, Norway

In a groundbreaking revelation, a new shipwreck has been unveiled in the depths of the ocean, shedding light on the secrets hidden beneath the seabed. This remarkable discovery came to fruition during a research expedition under the MAREANO program, which is dedicated to unraveling the mysteries of the underwater world’s biology and geology.

While the submarine wreckage was initially located in the spring, its true identity has now been definitively ascertained during a recent research cruise. This tantalizing revelation leaves us with more questions than answers – is this yet another unknown shipwreck?

When the research cruise was originally planned, the team of scientists noticed peculiar structures on their mapping screens. The MAREANO project is a collaborative endeavor involving the Institute of Marine Research (IMR), the Geological Survey of Norway (NGU), and the Norwegian Mapping Authority. Its primary mission is to comprehensively explore the ocean floor. When anomalous structures emerge on their maps, they become irresistible targets for investigation.

Fuelled by an insatiable curiosity, the researchers swiftly initiated a research site to uncover the truth about these enigmatic structures. Were they geological formations or hidden wrecks hitherto unknown to mankind?

“I rarely find myself in the video room during these explorations, but my curiosity was piqued long before our submersible cameras descended into the depths,” confessed senior engineer Kjell Bakkeplass.

As the voyage progressed, the suspicion that this was a hidden shipwreck grew stronger. Astonishingly, this recent cruise had already led to the discovery of four shipwrecks, with only one having been previously documented.

Bakkeplass expressed, “The striking resemblance between the wreck structures we had previously encountered and this newfound discovery is truly remarkable.”

The unveiling of this unidentified shipwreck adds a thrilling new chapter to the ongoing exploration of the ocean’s depths. As scientists continue to delve into the secrets of the seabed, who knows what other remarkable discoveries await?
